Underpinnings of Wicca: History
Wicca, in its current context, is an earth-based religion that typically, but not exclusively, incorporates balance in Deity (gender polarity of Goddess/es and God/s), reverence for the earth, the seen and the unseen. Its adherents are as diverse as its practices, from individuals who are monotheistic and revere the Goddess alone above all others, and those that worship many Goddesses and Gods. In this class we’ll take a look at Wiccan history from its roots, the occult revival of the 1800s, some of its current major movements, along with some of its individual movers and shakers.
